Caring for Solid Gold

Solid gold doesn't tarnish, rust, or corrode — it's one of the most chemically stable metals on earth. What dulls gold over time is the buildup of skin oils, lotions, perfume, and soap. The fix is simple and takes three minutes.

Jewelry on last
Apply perfume, lotion, hairspray, and sunscreen before putting your jewelry on. Allow products to dry fully first. This single habit prevents most buildup.
Physical activity
Remove fine jewelry before heavy lifting, sport, or gardening. Gold is durable but not scratch-proof. Natural diamonds can be chipped by direct impact on a hard surface.
Chlorine & salt water
Remove jewelry before swimming. Chlorine can weaken gold alloys over time, particularly at 14K. Occasional brief exposure won't cause damage — prolonged contact will.
Sleeping in your pieces
Many women wear solid gold rings and studs to sleep without issue. Chains can tangle with constant overnight wear — removing them before bed extends their life considerably.

Clean your solid gold jewelry every 2–4 weeks:
The warm soapy water method — Fill a small bowl with warm water and a few drops of mild dish soap. Soak for 10–15 minutes. Use a very soft toothbrush to gently brush around settings and links. Rinse under warm running water. Pat dry with a soft lint-free cloth. Air-dry completely before storing.
Do not use toothpaste, baking soda, or abrasive cleaners on gold or diamonds.
